AI Engineering Intern (Remote)

Location: Remote (Latin America)

Compensation: $350 USD/month

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 6 PM CT (40 hours/week)

Type: Full-time · Independent Contractor

About the Company

Our client is the number one Actor developer on Apify, building a production-ready library of tools that turn any website into clean, structured data. They have shipped over 1,500 Actors in under six months and are growing the team considerably. They run lean, ship fast, and give people real ownership early.

About the Role

This is a paid internship for a software engineering student who wants to learn a real skill through apprenticeship. You will work underneath tenured full-stack engineers and build expertise in web scraping and AI backends. You will build product from your first weeks and grow fast if you push. This role fits someone who is hungry to learn the latest in AI and wants to contribute to a real, growing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn how the team builds and ships Actors on the Apify platform.

• Build and ship your own Actors using TypeScript, Node.js, and modern AI coding tools.

• Contribute to the production codebases the team is actively building.

• Build AI backends on top of the data the Actors produce.

• Help keep existing Actors healthy by watching uptime, run success, and errors.

• Track usage and performance metrics so the team can see what is working and what is not.

Who You Are

• You are a software engineering student moving fast through the fundamentals.

• You have strong TypeScript skills. This is the number one thing the team looks for.

• You are comfortable with Node.js, React or Astro, and Prisma or Postgres.

• You are comfortable with GitHub and basic server work such as SSH and Ubuntu.

• You already use AI coding tools like Codex and Claude Code as part of how you build every day.

• You love building. You have shipped your own MVPs and products on your own.

• You are proactive and take ownership. You move fast, ask when you are stuck, and push work forward without being told.

• You communicate in English and Spanish, since the team works across both.

Bonus Points

• Exposure to web scraping or the Apify platform.

• Interest in how metrics drive product decisions.

• Experience with Astro or other modern frontend frameworks.

What Success Looks Like

First 90 Days

• By day 30 you navigate the codebase and the Apify console on your own, ship small changes under review, and keep the performance metrics current.

• By day 60 you own a small set of Actors, ship with less oversight, and build your first AI backend feature on top of the data the Actors produce.

• By day 90 you own a slice of the Actor Factory, spot problems and ship fixes without being told, and your work reaches users.

Ongoing

• You become the person the team asks about your slice of the Actor Factory.

• Your pull requests need fewer rounds of review and you ship with confidence.

• Your metrics shape what the team builds next.
