Bookkeeper
Keep the day-to-day accounting of a US business clean, current and easy to review. The work is detail-heavy and important to the health of the business.
Remote · Latin America · $1,800-$2,800 USD/month · Full-time · Independent Contractor · Monday to Friday · Overlap with EST working hours
Why this role exists
Our client is a US-based business that needs a dependable bookkeeper to keep the numbers accurate: reconciliations, transaction coding, record maintenance and support for month-end close. It is a good fit for someone who likes clean books, steady process, and catching errors before they become bigger problems.
What you'll own
- The general ledger, with daily financial transactions posted correctly
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable follow-up
- Bank, credit card and key balance sheet reconciliations, on schedule
- Transaction review for accuracy, supporting documentation and coding consistency
- Reports and close support materials for leadership or the external accountant
- Vendor records, internal files and audit trails, kept organized
Why this is interesting
- You own the routine bookkeeping end to end, not pieces of it
- Your work directly supports the health of the business
- Leadership relies on your numbers to answer financial questions
What we're looking for
- Prior bookkeeping experience for a US business, accounting firm or multi-entity environment
- Comfortable working inside QuickBooks, without guessing
- You notice mismatches, missing support and duplicate entries quickly
- Organized enough to keep recurring tasks on schedule every month
- English C1, written and spoken. Strong enough to ask good follow-up questions and explain bookkeeping issues clearly
Bonus
- Multi-entity bookkeeping
- Supporting e-commerce or service businesses
- Bill.com, Gusto or related finance tools
What success looks like
First 90 days
The chart of accounts, reconciliations and recurring tasks are under control instead of being pieced together at month-end. You know where the common bookkeeping breaks happen in this business and catch them early, and leadership can ask basic financial questions without waiting for a scramble to clean up the books first.
Ongoing
The books stay current and review-ready. Month-end is less painful because transactions are coded correctly throughout the month, and the team spends less time fixing mistakes and more time using the numbers.
