About the Company
Our client is a funded company whose data has outgrown spreadsheets and ad hoc queries. They need someone to build the pipelines and infrastructure so the business can trust its numbers and build on its data.
About the Role
You build and own the data infrastructure. You design pipelines, model the data, and make sure clean, reliable data is available for analytics, reporting, and product. You are the person who makes data trustworthy and usable across the company. This role fits someone who takes ownership of systems, communicates clearly with stakeholders across the business, and writes code that scales.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and ETL or ELT workflows.
• Model and structure data in the warehouse for analytics and product use.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and freshness across all data sources.
• Partner with analytics, product, and finance teams to deliver the data they need.
• Optimize pipeline performance and reduce infrastructure costs.
• Document the data model and build systems that scale with the company.
• Troubleshoot data issues and maintain pipeline reliability.
Who You Are
• You have 3+ years of data engineering experience with production pipelines you own.
• You are strong in SQL and Python, and experienced with a modern data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• You have hands-on experience with orchestration and transformation tools like dbt or Airflow.
• Your English is excellent in both speech and writing; you work effectively with US-based teams.
• You build reliable, well-documented systems and take pride in code quality.
Bonus Points
• Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Streaming or real-time data pipeline experience.
• Comfortable using AI tools to speed up pipeline development and documentation work.
What Success Looks Like
First 90 Days
• You have mapped the current data landscape, identified bottlenecks, and documented the existing pipelines.
• You have built or improved at least one critical pipeline that the business relies on daily.
• You are collaborating regularly with analytics and product teams and understand their data needs.
Ongoing
• The business trusts the data; pipelines run reliably with minimal manual intervention.
• New data requests are fulfilled quickly because your infrastructure is flexible and well-documented.
• You continuously optimize for performance and cost without sacrificing data quality.
