Why this role exists

Our client is a funded startup whose product is growing faster than its infrastructure can keep up. They are scaling rapidly and need someone to own the systems that let engineering ship fast and safely: someone who takes ownership of reliability, automates toil and thinks like a builder.

What you'll own

• CI and CD pipelines and the deployment process
• Cloud infrastructure as code, kept scalable and cost-efficient
• Reliability: monitoring, alerting, incident response and uptime
• Security and access hardening across the infrastructure
• Internal tooling that makes engineers faster
• Planning for scale and reducing operational toil

What we're looking for

• 4+ years in DevOps, platform or site reliability engineering
• Strong with cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure), containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar)
• You automate, monitor and respond to incidents calmly
• You build reliable, secure systems and document them
• English C1, written and spoken. You work with a US team

Bonus

• Scripting and a programming language beyond shell
• Security or compliance experience
• Comfortable using AI to speed infrastructure and tooling work

What success looks like

First 90 days

You have mapped the current infrastructure, identified bottlenecks and documented the deployment process. CI/CD pipelines are built or improved so deployments are reliable and repeatable, and monitoring and alerting show the team system health in real time.

Ongoing

Deployments are routine, safe and fast, and engineers ship with confidence. Infrastructure scales with demand, costs are optimized and documented, and incidents are rare, detected early and resolved quickly with clear postmortems.
