Full Stack AI Automation Engineer (Remote)
Location: Remote (Latin America)
Compensation: $4,000 to $5,000 USD/month
Type: Full-time · Independent Contractor
About the Company
Our client runs established US service businesses with real operations behind them: call centers, field teams, schedules, invoices, and customers who call when something breaks. They are not software companies, and that is the point. There is a lot of work happening today that a good engineer could automate, and nobody in house is going to build it.
About the Role
You sit inside the business, not outside it. You watch how the work actually gets done, find the parts that are manual and repetitive, and build the thing that removes them. Some weeks that is an AI agent handling inbound calls. Others it is a script that reconciles two systems nobody wants to touch, or a prototype that answers a question the owner has been asking for months.
You will work across more than one business, so you learn to get to the real problem fast and ship something useful before anyone loses interest. Nobody hands you a spec. You go find the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Sit with the operating team, learn the workflow, and identify what is worth automating.
- Build and ship full stack applications and internal tools, end to end.
- Build AI automations and agents on top of existing systems: phone, email, scheduling, CRM, billing.
- Integrate systems that were never designed to talk to each other, through APIs, webhooks and databases.
- Ship prototypes fast, put them in front of real users, and iterate on what comes back.
- Keep what you build running, and document it well enough that the business is not dependent on you being awake.
- Explain your work to people who are not technical, and say no when an idea is not worth building.
Who You Are
- You have 4 or more years building software end to end, frontend and backend.
- You are strong in TypeScript or Python, and comfortable with APIs, databases and cloud deployment.
- You have built real automations with LLMs, not demos. OpenAI, Claude or similar, wired into systems people actually use.
- You have worked with n8n, Make, Zapier or your own code to connect tools that do not integrate.
- You use AI coding tools every day as part of how you build.
- Your English is strong in speech and writing. You can sit in a call with a business owner and come out with the right problem.
- You ship. You have built and launched things on your own, and you would rather have something working on Friday than perfect in a month.
Bonus Points
- You have worked with service businesses: home services, field operations, call centers, logistics.
- Experience with telephony or voice AI platforms.
- You have been the only engineer on something and it survived.
- Experience with data pipelines or reporting on top of operational systems.
What Success Looks Like
First 90 Days
- By day 30 you understand how the business runs and you have shipped your first automation, small but in production.
- By day 60 you have delivered something the team uses daily and you are bringing your own list of what to build next.
- By day 90 there is work that used to take hours a week and now takes none, and the owner can name it.
Ongoing
- You find the problems yourself instead of waiting for a ticket.
- What you build stays running and other people can maintain it.
- The business measures the hours you gave back, and the number keeps growing.
