About the Company
Our client is a funded company that has reached the point where security is a requirement from customers, auditors, and the business itself. They are building a product and infrastructure that needs to be genuinely secure, not just compliant on paper.
About the Role
You own security across the product and infrastructure. You find and fix vulnerabilities, build the controls and processes that keep the company safe, respond to incidents, and help the company meet the security standards its customers and auditors expect. This role fits someone who makes security real, not a checkbox.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities across product and infrastructure.
- Build and enforce security controls, policies, and access management.
- Lead incident detection and response.
- Support compliance efforts (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar) and audits.
- Run security reviews of code, infrastructure, and vendors.
- Raise the security awareness and practices of the whole team.
Who You Are
- You have 4+ years in security engineering, application security, or cloud security.
- You are strong with cloud security, identity and access, and common vulnerability classes.
- You can read code and infrastructure and find the real risks.
- Your English is excellent in speech and writing; you work directly with a US team.
- You are rigorous and calm under an incident.
Bonus Points
- Security certifications (CISSP, OSCP, or similar).
- Experience taking a company through SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
- Comfortable using AI to speed detection and review.
What Success Looks Like
First 90 Days
- You have completed a full security assessment of the product and infrastructure and documented findings with severity and remediation steps.
- You have established incident response procedures and run at least one tabletop exercise with the team.
- You have mapped compliance requirements for SOC 2 or ISO 27001 and created a roadmap to meet them.
Ongoing
- Vulnerabilities are found and fixed before they reach production; your team ships with confidence.
- The company passes audits and meets customer security requirements without scrambling.
- Your team understands security as part of their job, not something imposed from above.
