Why this role exists

Our client is a funded company that has reached the point where security is a requirement from customers, auditors and the business itself. They are building a product and infrastructure that needs to be genuinely secure, not just compliant on paper.

What you'll own

• Security vulnerabilities across product and infrastructure: identified, prioritized and remediated
• Security controls, policies and access management
• Incident detection and response
• Compliance efforts (SOC 2, ISO 27001 or similar) and audits
• Security reviews of code, infrastructure and vendors
• Security awareness and practices across the whole team

What we're looking for

• 4+ years in security engineering, application security or cloud security
• Strong with cloud security, identity and access, and common vulnerability classes
• Able to read code and infrastructure and find the real risks
• Rigorous and calm under an incident
• English C1, written and spoken. You work directly with a US team

Bonus

• Security certifications (CISSP, OSCP or similar)
• Taking a company through SOC 2 or ISO 27001
• Using AI to speed detection and review

What success looks like

First 90 days

You have completed a full security assessment of the product and infrastructure with findings documented by severity and remediation steps. Incident response procedures are in place with at least one tabletop exercise run, and SOC 2 or ISO 27001 requirements are mapped with a roadmap to meet them.

Ongoing

Vulnerabilities are found and fixed before they reach production, and the team ships with confidence. The company passes audits and meets customer security requirements without scrambling, and the team sees security as part of their job.
